We’re seeing a growing trend in guests wishing to bring the pet dog along on holiday. Apparently we’re not alone in witnessing the trend, and in fact it’s a national phenomenon. That’s fine with us; we’re dog lovers ourselves and welcome your pooch to stay with us. But there are some rules.

Please do not leave your dog locked indoors when out on excursions. It’s not fair on others, including your canine. If we find your dog locked inside, we will charge a $250 cleaning fee and make a claim on the security bond for any damage.

Bring your dogs along, enjoying their company in the great outdoors of the Bay of Islands like the family members they are. There are plenty of places for all to explore in the area. We enjoy taking Louie on the Paihia – Russell walk, and of course he just loves the beach.

If you’d like a break from Fido while staying in Paihia, All walks of life is a great idea. Get in touch with Jules and she’ll entertain your dog while you’re out enjoying one of those special BoI places. Jules knows all the best places for doggies to run and sniff around in!

Back at North Base, if you’re staying in the House upstairs, there’s an enclosed area next to the deck that can contain Rover while you’re around; as long as he’s not overly determined to get out!

So bring your dog along, but please obey all the local rules. The local restaurants are generally dog-friendly, and the ferry to Russell will welcome Spot aboard. But you can’t take her out to the islands that are wildlife sanctuaries.
